Tanning Bed Maintenance, From Cleaning to Tanning Bed Parts

Like any other machine, tanning beds are prone to rust, broken parts and all other forms of decay. Since these devices are not cheap, keeping your tanning bed in good state should be a priority. This is not only about cleaning it after every use. It's about making sure all of the tanning bed parts work as they should! Stick to a regular maintenance schedule and your tanning bed will last for many years to come. Read on to find out more about keeping your tanning bed in tip-top shape!

It is wise to set a time limit for yourself, so you know when the device is due for an inspection. Try to check the tanning bed parts after they have been used for around 450 hours. Check the nuts, bolts and screws to make sure that they are secure. The areas you should pay special attention to are the ones around the hinges, gas springs and other points of movement. The malfunctioning of any of these parts, specifically the gas springs, can result in a disaster.

Always make sure the vent holes and fan openings are clear. If you have the time to clean the fan blades, it is highly recommended that you do so at every opportunity. Any air filters in the tanning bed should be replaced regularly as well.

The cleaning of a tanning bed should be two-fold. A bed needs to be thoroughly cleaned once every few months, but it should also be treated after every tanning session. Simply cleaning and disinfecting the tanning surfaces goes a long way towards retaining the quality of your device. However, make sure your cleaner does not contain any ammonia derivates, as they may be harmful to the surfaces. The inside of the tanning unit does not need cleaning every time you use it, but should not be neglected either. Dust can enter through the fans and if it covers the lamps, your tan will not be as good as one obtained from a clean machine. Wipe the lamps with a damp cloth.

If, upon inspecting of the tanning bed parts, you find that one of them is broken or malfunctioning, make sure to contact the store where you purchased the device immediately. Do not use the tanning bed until a professional technician has taken a look at it. If the warranty for the bed has expired, any store that sells the particular brand you have should have the parts you need.
