Replacement and Maintenance Concerns for Tanning Bed Parts

Tanning bed parts need to be maintained and even replaced at given periods of time. Just like any machine or equipment, the longevity of tanning beds depends on how well their parts are maintained or replaced.

Tanning bed parts include ballasts, buck boosters, blue filter facial glass, capacitors, sockets, shocks, electronic starters, relays, connectors, acrylics, banners, tanning lamps, receptacles, timers, cooling fans, hinges, tanning bed goggles, goggle tank, sanitizers, bed warning signs, end caps and even pillow and paper products. That’s a lot of parts for an equipment; and each of these devices needs to be maintained and occasionally replaced to make a suntan bed lasts longer.

The parts that need to be replaced more often than the others are the lamps. For a 100W lamp, the recommended replacement time is every 700 to 1000 hours, while 160W should be replaced every 600 to 800 hours and 200W lamps are replaced every 500 to 700 hours. Face tanner lamps, on the other hand, are replaced every 500 to 700 hours.

The function of tanning lamps is quite obvious to most people, they provide the rays that induce a person’s skin to create more pigment and produce a tan. While lamps are easy to understand in terms of function, some consumers are not sure what some of the parts are for. For example, the buck boosters. A buck booster, for those who are not familiar with this part, regulates the electric power and supplies the tanning bed with the right voltage to operate safely and effectively. This device is needed because the voltage coming out of the wall can vary depending on where the bed is in relation to the power station.

Regularly replacing lamps, maintaining buck boosters and keeping the other devices in good condition are necessary if a tanning bed is to last long and function well. To understand better how these parts can be maintained, a tanning bed user should read the manual from the manufacturer thoroughly and take note of the specifications for each part. Different tanning beds require different parts and power levels. It is up to the owner of the bed to make sure that he or she is using the appropriate parts for the bed.

Tanning bed parts are like pieces of a puzzle, if one doesn’t work well the whole equipment might not function as it should. It is highly important that a suntan bed user familiarizes himself on how to maintain and when to replace these parts.
