Tanning Bed Lotions
There are countless products on the market to make your tanning experience safer – and even more relaxing and enjoyable. However, not all of these products are necessary – and many of them do not work at all. However, tanning bed lotions are necessary – and they do work. In fact, it is highly inadvisable to use a tanning bed without tanning bed lotions.
The first thing you need to know about tanning in a tanning bed is that you should not use regular sun tanning lotions. Outdoor tanning lotions were not meant for indoor use. They were designed to last for several hours, and therefore have very heavy ingredients that allow the lotion to stay on your skin. Indoor lotions are only needed for fifteen or twenty minutes. Wind and evaporation do not play into indoor tanning, as they do in outdoor tanning, and the outdoor lotions are also designed for these conditions.
Tanning bed lotions should not be confused with tanning lotions. Tanning bed lotions are used with tanning beds, while tanning lotions are used alone – without ultra violet rays of any type. Tanning lotions are sometimes referred to as ‘instant tanning lotions’ or ‘spray on tans.’ These are not what you want to use in a tanning bed.
There are a variety of tanning bed lotions that do a variety of things for your tan and your skin. In fact, the choices can become overwhelming, and you will probably have to try several products to find the one that is right for you. There are anti-aging tanning bed lotions, anti-wrinkle lotions, lotions that soften the skin, and more. The list goes on and on.
If you tan at a saloon, you can ask the operator which product other customers seem to like the best – however, you need to note that the operator is in the business of selling those products, and you may not be getting an accurate opinion. Your best bet is to talk to other tanners, and see what they like the best. If you have friends that tan, you should even see if you can borrow their product before making your own purchase. Remember, tanning bed lotions are not cheap!
