There are many reasons why people want tanning beds in their homes. The first is convenience. If you have a tanning bed in your home, you don’t need to make an appointment at a saloon – you can tan on your own schedule. Cost is another issue. Each session at a salon must be paid for. Over time, these tanning fees can really add up. Some people feel that home tanning beds are more sanitary than the ones that are used by multiple people in the salons.

Whatever the reason is for wanting a tanning bed at home, it is important to purchase a tanning bed that not only gives you the tan that you want, but that is also backed by a guarantee and a warranty. You also want a tanning bed that is easy to store and maintain, and one that runs on a standard 120 volt household electrical circuit.

Home tanning beds start at about $1500 and run up to six or seven thousand dollars. For the greatest protection, look for a tanning bed that operates with UVA bulbs, instead of UVA/UVB bulbs. You will pay a little more – but your health and safety are well worth that added expense.

Once you’ve chosen and purchased your home tanning beds, you need to make sure that you know how to maintain it. Read the owners manual thoroughly, and follow the directions for maintaining the bed, including cleaning the bed after each use and changing the bulbs as needed. Use the bulbs that are recommended by the manufacturer for best results. Also, don’t forget that you will still need indoor tanning lotions to use with your home tanning beds! Tanning without these lotions can be harmful to your skin!
