Should You Build Your Own Tanning Bed?If you think you might save some money by build your own tanning bed, as opposed to buying or leasing a tanning bed, you may quickly find that you won’t necessarily save any money if you build your own tanning bed. There are many reasons why purchasing a tanning bed, as opposed to building your own, is the better option – and the cost is just one factor to consider. First, in most cases, you cannot build a tanning bed for less than you would pay for a brand new one. The materials are not cheap, and you need to know a great deal about electricity and UV technology. The companies that manufacture these beds can build them cheaper than the average person can simply because they are manufactured in bulk – which means that the materials are purchased in bulk. Not being an expert in UV technology is another reason why building your own bed is a bad idea. You may know enough about electricity to get the job done – but without that UV knowledge, you may end up constructing a bed that will do you quite a bit of harm! The people who manufacture tanning beds have done a great deal of UV technology research – they are experts! You may be able to take the time to learn everything you need to know about both electricity and UV technology, but in order to construct a bed you will probably spend a great deal more on the needed materials than the manufacturers do. However, if this is what you are determined to do, there are places online where you can order directions, and possibly even tanning bed kits – but again, you will find that you end up paying more to build the bed than you would if you purchased a brand new one. All-in-all, there really is no reason to go through the hassle to build your own tanning bed. You can purchase a brand new one for around $1500, and you can typically purchase a used tanning bed for under $800. |
